PASS CHRISTIAN (AKA)
• AKA:
Unknown Maker (Unknown Location, Operated: Unknown), Introduced: c1890 introduced
• NOTE: Jane Bahr: Pattern apparently named by Batty. (town on Mississippi Gulf Coast) Pattern very similar to Dalzell # 21D (aka: starred block). It is speculated by Welker that Pass Christian was an early version of 21D that proved too difficult to remove from the mold.
NOTEL Sid Lethbridge 2023 - This listing of aka Pass Christian appears in September 1890 wholesale catalogue allowing us to put at least a circa date on the pattern. This should put paid to (end) suggestion that the pattern was a precursor to Dalzell Bros. & Gilmore No. 21D as that pattern was introduced three years earlier in 1887. Note this wholesaler seldom used OMN so it is likely that Avon was a made up name used by the wholesaler.
