COLUMNAR CANDLESTICK WITH PETAL SOCKET (AKA) mt. w by Mt. Washington Glass Works (Boston/New Bedford-MA, Company Operated: 1837-1894), 1850-1865 Introduced
• AKA: Petal and Column ( collector name)
NOTE: Dan Frering 2023: a very similar candlestick with a sand finish was made by B & S. The differences: The Mt. Washington stick's wafer (below the socket) is covered by tipped-down petals. It also has a reinforcing ring inside the petals forming the socket. The B & S stick has the petals pointing outward and above the wafer. There is a line drawing demonstrating the differences in Barlow and Kaiser The Glass Industry in Sandwich, vol 4, p55. "Mt. Washington petal and column ones tend to be 9.25 inches tall"
