RUNNING DEER WITH STANDING HUNTER ETCHING (AKA) by Unknown Glass Company for Etchings No. 1 (Unknown Location, Operated: Unknown), c1880s Introduced
NOTE: The Running Deer with Standing Hunters Etching is another very busy circumferential etching wrapping all the way around the goblet bowl. The scene starts with a hunter walking through the woods holding a rifle. Next we see a standing hunter wearing buckskins accompanied by a dog. The hunter is aiming his rifle at a running deer. Two birds are flying away above the deer, one above the rear haunches and one over its head.
For the purposes of my research the firm that did this etching has designated as U1 i.e. Unknown 1. They were very prolific and there are about 30 etchings that can be assigned to them.
