ZZ UNIDENTIFIED No. 425 [ Horsehead and Horseshoe butter] by UNIDENTIFIED MAKER, Unknown Date
NOTE: Sid Lethbridge 2019: Aetna made a "flanged Horse-Shoe butter" for the 1884 season but did not provide an illustration to show us what it looked like. If this was the only candidate we might be willing to speculate but there is the Maude S butter which also has a horseshoe base which does not have a documented maker either. Ruth Webb Lee assigned the latter to Ripley but did not reveal her basis and to date no catalogue or trade quote evidence has arisen to support her assignment.
