NOTES: The catalogue label indicates that these celeries were protected by a patent. That patent was originally issued to John Oesterling as US Patent No. 132216 on Oct 15, 1872. It described a process where the bowl of a glass object - goblet, celery, etc. was pressed in a solid or one piece mould so there would be no mould lines. After removing the bowl from the mould and fire polishing it, the foot was pressed in a separate mould and the two connected. The patent was re-issued as RE6151 on November 24, 1874. A re-issued patent usually had the claims changed slightly to reflect a minor improvement or change in the process and that was the case here as well with the two original claims rewritten into a single claim.
